The immediate past Chairman of Okpe Local Govt Area of Delta State, Hon. Godwin Ejinyere, today Friday 14, September 2018 mobilised to effect repairs on some bad spots along major roads in Orerokpe, headquarters of the local govt.
As early as 9.00am, casual workers were seen filling the bad portions along the Council Road leading to the Local Govt Secretariat and also at Omare Street Junction.
As at the time our correspondent visited the road, the former Council Boss was not on ground as we were reliably told that he travelled out of town but gave the go-ahead and also provided the logistics to effect the repairs on the road. Nevertheless, two of his Personal Aides, Sammy Edema and the Media Assistant popularly known as Efe were seen at the various site coordinating the work.
Motorist and Okada riders plying the road commended the former Council Boss for coming to their aid, as the road has been a nightmare to users.
An okada rider who gave his name as Kenneth praised Ejinyere's kind gesture and prayed God to continually bless him.
"As you are aware, he's no longer in office. This is not even the street or road leading to his personal house but he deemed it fit to make this sacrifice from his personal pocket. Gordons is widely known in Okpe and beyond for such humanitarian acts to his people" Kenneth said.
Another resident of Omare Street while commending the good works of the former Council boss said "Gordons na Man wey sabi. He is resident here in Orerokpe, he understand our pains and is always willing to contribute towards the development of this town"
When our correspondent approached the Media Aide to speak to us, he declined saying he will get across to his Boss and respond to our enquiries later.
