It was a joyous atmosphere at Ogirisen Town Hall in Elume District, Sapele LGA of Delta State, Nigeria when representatives of over 30 communities of Okpe Kingdom indicate their willingness to give peace a chance by working out modalities of ensuring peace and security reign in their communities to solidify bond for growth and development.
This was the climax of the 2nd meeting on Peace, Security & Investment initiative of Edewor Foundation, an International NGO founded by an Okpe son, Prof. Rollison Edewor.
The community leaders who took turn to speak, expressed their readiness to do everything within their power to safeguard whatever investment or investors interested in the growth and development of their communities.
Comr. Sunday Mietehe, Chairman of Ogirisen Community who responded on behalf of other community leaders assured Edewor Foundation of their readiness to welcome investors to Okpe kingdom.
Earlier on, a Representative of Edewor Foundation, Mr. Udom Anietie enlightened the communities present on the need to provide an enabling environment that will promote, protect & secure investors and their investment.
According to Udom, insecurity related problems impacts negatively on human capital development if unchecked and therefore requires the attention and input of all stakeholders, especially community members towards ensuring that there's peace for investment to thrive.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the Edewor Peace, Security & Investment Agreement papers to all the communities present.
