TEAM OKPE BOW TO TEAM UVWIE 4-0 AT OREROKPE DESPITE HOME ADVANTAGE.

The ongoing Sheriff Oborevwori U-17 Unity Football Cup Competition, powered by Arthur Fedinand Limited, featured its 8th and 9th matches at the weekend with Team Uvwie spanking Team Okpe by 4 goals to nothing at the Baptist High School football pitch, Orerokpe on Sunday, despite home advantage enjoyed by Team Okpe.

The first half of that encounter recorded three goals scored by Fejiro Friday, Menitie Godswill, and Victor Emmanuel of Team Uvwie in that order.

All efforts by Team Okpe to pull one back failed, just as Team Uvwie also failed to increase the tally due to inability of the two sides to convert many scoring chances.

The superior power of Team Uvwie, however, yielded another goal in the second half, scored by Clement Onyeama, making it 4 goals for Team Uvwie.

Earlier on Saturday, the match between Team Udu and Team Ughelli South ended goalless at the DSC School One football field, Orhuwhorun, as both sides failed to score despite frantic efforts to outwit each other. Team Udu also failed to use its home advantage.

The Local Organizing Committee Chairman, Ex-international Super Eagles player, Edema Fuludu, MON, commended the efforts of the young footballers but urged their coaches to school them on how to score goals.

Edema Fuludu, MON, also commended the match officials and LOC members, as well as the medical, media/publicity and security teams for their respective roles in all the matches played so far since the games started in August this year.

According to the table released by the LOC, Team Ethiope East are currently at the top of the table with 6 points. They have played 2 matches and won both with 6 goals and conceding none. Their goal difference is plus 6.

Team Udu are in the second place with 4 points from 2 matches. They have 1 win and 1 draw, scoring 2 goals and conceding none, giving them a goal difference of plus 2.

In the 3rd position are Team Ughelli South with 4 points from 2 matches, identical to Udu in terms of wins and draws but they have scored and conceded fewer goals 2 for 1 against, giving them a goal difference of plus 1.

Team Uvwie are 4th, having played more games, 3, than the top three. They have 4 points from 1 win, 1 draw, and 1 loss, scoring 5 goals and conceding 4, for a goal difference of plus 1. Though tied on points with Udu and Ughelli South, they rank lower due to playing more games.

Team Ethiope West are in the fifth place with 3 points from 2 matches, 1 win and 1 loss. They have scored 6 goals but conceded 3, leaving them with a plus 3 goal difference. Despite a better goal difference than Uvwie, they rank lower due to fewer points.

Team Ughelli North are 6th with 3 points from 2 matches, with 1 win and 1 loss. However, they have scored only 1 goal and conceded 3, resulting in a minus 2 goal difference.

Team Sapele are 7th with 1 point from 2 matches, 1 draw and 1 loss. They have scored 1 goal and conceded 2, giving them a minus 1 goal difference.

Team Okpe are at the bottom of the table, having lost all 3 of their matches. They have scored just 1 goal and conceded 11, resulting in a minus 10 goal difference and no points.

Meanwhile, two more matches will be played this weekend at different venues. Ethiope East and Ethiope West will on Saturday 6th Sept. lock horns at the Oviorie Secondary School football field, while Ughelli North and Okpe will slog it out at the Ogor Technical College football field on Sunday 7th Sept. The two matches will commence at 3pm each day.
