DELTANS TROOPS INTO THE STREETS TO HAIL ELDER SHERIFF OBOREVWORI FOR PRAGMATIC GOVERNANCE.
Elder Sheriff Oborevwori’s pragmatic leadership continues to rise, earning him the title “Hero of Governance and Life Saver of Our Roads” from grateful Deltans.
Flyovers were once rare in Nigeria, with only a few built in Lagos after Independence. None, however, compare to the modern and ambitious flyovers initiated under Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration in Delta State. Past governments had relied on roundabouts, dual carriageways, and overhead bridges to address traffic congestion—solutions many residents found unsafe and inadequate.
Sheriff Oborevwori, with his refined vision for durable infrastructure, took a bold step by engaging Julius Berger PLC, a company whose costs had discouraged previous governors. His prudent management of the State treasury ensured that sufficient funds were available, eliminating the need for excessive borrowing and proving that money would not stand as a barrier to meaningful development.
His style of governance demonstrates that leadership is not about theories but about practical, realistic, and impactful actions. This is possible only because Sheriff is detribalized, corruption-free, and committed to treating the entire State as his constituency. His budgets are deliberately directed toward the needs of the people, silencing critics and opposition through visible and life-changing results.
Since the creation of Delta State in 1991, Warri, Effurun, and their environs have grown into bustling commercial centers. With this growth came severe traffic congestion at nearly every junction, causing workers and business owners to arrive late and, on tragic occasions, leading to the loss of lives and property as pedestrians risked crossing busy roads.
Sheriff’s foresight in identifying five key locations for ongoing flyover construction has already earned him widespread acclaim. Many now believe he should be formally crowned as the true Hero of Good Governance and Life Saver of Our Roads.
However, as a performing governor, he is further encouraged to extend these projects to other critical areas—particularly the routes leading to Delta State University Campuses I & II near the Police Station in Abraka, and the Olympia Roundabout in Sapele—to ensure a complete transformation of traffic management across the State.
